Playing 20 Questions on Eat More Brook Trout

November 12, 2011 By Tom Sadler

If you spend any time reading this blog then you know Chris Hunt is one of my best friends and favorite people. Our passions and points of view run along nearly identical lines.

Chris gave me the 20 question treatment yesterday on his blog, Eat More Brook Trout. His introduction was overly kind and he certainly got it right when he wrote:

in our hearts, we’re after the same thing–the protection of the places that matter, and not just to us, but to the future of our hunting and fishing heritage. The thought of our kids or our grandkids growing up without knowing what the natural world has to offer is dead-on frightening.

often present when Hunt and Sadler are together...
The questions were both thought provoking and entertaining. Much like every conversation I have with Chris, ‘cept maybe in that “interesting little establishment on Bourbon Street.”

Read my answers to the 20 questions here.

Friends who Write

November 4, 2011 By Tom Sadler

Some days it is great to have friends. Especially friends who write so well you stop what you are doing, refill the coffee mug and enjoy the story.

This morning’s Friday Fishilicious post on Fly Fishilicious caught my eye. It was a guest post written by my good friend Chris Hunt of Eat More Brook Trout fame.

Teaser:

The brookie is, in my humble opinion, the sexiest salmonid on earth, especially when you get to see one naked in October.

See what I mean… Stops you in your tracks writing!

Grab a coffee refill and read the rest here.

Jen, Nice job getting Hunt to tell the tale of the Eat More Brook Trout blog.

Worth the Read: 20 ?’s with Craig Mathews on Eat More Brook Trout blog

September 18, 2011 By Tom Sadler

My good friend Chris Hunt who blogs at Eat More Brook Trout has started interviewing some fly fishing notables. Last week he interviewed another good friend, Craig Mathews.

Chris writes:

“In addition to being one of the country’s fly fishing elite, Craig is a staunch conservationist who, over the years, has been able to speak truth to power in a way that is constructive and helpful. And he puts his money where his mouth is–in partnership with Yvon Chouinard, the founder of Patagonia, Craig helped start the “1% for the Planet” program, where businesses and industry could earmark 1 percent of their profits to conservation-centric the non-profits of their choice.”

Click here to read the entire interview: Eat More Brook Trout: 20 Questions: Craig Mathews.

Craig is responsible for my getting me started on tenkara and it was a treat to spend some time with him at the tenkara summit last month.

He also shares a very special place in the Sadler household having officiated at our wedding 5 years ago.

Chris Hunt shouldn’t have to kiss a Llama…

April 9, 2011 By Tom Sadler

My good friend Chris Hunt who writes the very entertaining and informative Eat More Brook Trout has prostrated himself before the hat gods.

He read about my Waxed Cotton Cap like this one:

Waxed Cotton Stormy Kromer Cap

But what he really wants is a Hunter Green Original Wool Stormy Kromer Cap like this one:

Original Stormy Kromer Wool Cap

I feel for him…

they are pretty sweet brain toppers…

So I am taking up a collection of sorts for Mr. Hunt. So he no longer suffers from lid envy and keeps his creative noggin warm.

Drop a line to Stormy Kromer Mercantile and tell them you think Chris deserves a hat. Include this link – http://www.eatmorebrooktrout.com/2011/04/coveting-thy-lid.html – to his blog post so they know what the hell is going on.

It is the least we can do for the poor boy.

Tenkara in Idaho

February 6, 2011 By Tom Sadler

Liza Hunt was not about to be bested by Craig Mathews’ tenkara adventures. No siree.

Read all about it: Eat More Brook Trout: Craig Mathews can suck it! (Kidding … mostly).
